Cherry Hues and Teal Views

Project Goals
In their charming mid-century home, our clients embarked on a kitchen transformation tailored to their growing family. The vision was to seamlessly blend the home's updated style with enhanced functionality. The previous U-shaped kitchen lacked the necessary flow and accessibility for two avid cooks, making it difficult to collaborate effectively. To address this, our primary goal was to replace the outdated peninsula with a welcoming island—a central gathering point that fosters interaction and offers additional seating.
We aimed to create an open and inviting space filled with ample storage and countertop areas, enhancing both the kitchen's practicality and visual appeal. Improving access around the back door area was essential, as well as maximizing storage around the refrigerator to ensure that every cooking essential was easily reachable.
A dedicated coffee bar was also integral to the design, reflecting the clients' desire for a personalized touch in their daily routines. Throughout the project, we were committed to maintaining the mid-century modern aesthetic. It was important that the kitchen not only functioned beautifully but also looked sophisticated enough to be seen from the adjacent living and dining areas, reinforcing the home's cohesive style.
By thoughtfully integrating these elements, we aimed to create a kitchen that is not only functional and stylish but also serves as the heart of the home—perfectly aligned with this young professional families needs and lifestyle.

"Transforming a kitchen is more than just design; it's about crafting a functional heart where families gather and memories are made. By blending innovative solutions with timeless style, we create spaces that inspire connection and elevate everyday living."
Project Boundaries
Throughout the kitchen transformation, we navigated several boundaries to create a standout space while ensuring we didn’t blow the budget. One of the primary challenges was the large sliding patio door, which needed resizing to optimize the wall for continuous tall pantry storage around the refrigerator. This adjustment allowed us to maximize functionality without compromising style and included a dedicated coffee bar, essential for daily routines.
The existing structure presented unique challenges as well. An existing hot water heater along this wall had to be reconfigured to fit seamlessly beneath the toe kick of the coffee bar. This thoughtful integration maintained aesthetic appeal while ensuring all elements worked harmoniously together.
To address these challenges, we focused on retaining the original footprint of the kitchen, which helped control costs while allowing for a comprehensive storage solution. The design was meticulously crafted to resonate with the mid-century modern aesthetic, ensuring a seamless flow throughout the space. By skillfully integrating the existing flooring into the new layout, we created a cohesive environment that beautifully balances practicality and style, resulting in a kitchen that feels both inviting and functional.

Project Outcomes
The transformation of this kitchen is truly stunning, showcasing a harmonious blend of color and texture that elevates the entire space. The warm cherry cabinets beautifully complement the existing flooring, creating a rich and inviting atmosphere. Elegant gold accents in the lighting and hardware further enhance the mid-century modern feel we aimed to achieve, adding just the right touch of sophistication.
To maintain a light and airy ambiance, we chose a nice earthy taupe color for the upper cabinetry, creating a perfect contrast with the lower cherry wood. A standout feature is the custom-made curved plaster hood, which not only serves a practical purpose but also acts as a sculptural element in the design. Flanking this hood, the floating shelves provide an ideal space for decorative displays, facing the open-concept living and dining areas, and inviting warmth into the heart of the home.
In addition to the aesthetic enhancements, we maximized functionality with plenty of storage and countertop space. For the coffee bar, we opted for a beautiful oak butcher block countertop, stained to match the cherry cabinets, tying the design elements together seamlessly. This thoughtful choice adds a rustic charm while keeping the overall look cohesive and light.
The clients are absolutely thrilled with their new kitchen, perfectly reflected in the glowing testimonial they provided. The incorporation of striking teal accents complements the cherry-hued wood beautifully, creating a vibrant focal point that catches the eye. This stylish yet practical design has breathed new life into the space, making it an ideal gathering place for family and friends, perfectly suited to their lifestyle
